Just What I Needed to See!

It’s amazing how often I simply forget to check in with my heart.

My friend Monica Borrell posted the following inner dialogue on Facebook the other night. It was exactly the reminder I was needing when I read it.

Here’s hoping it might be helpful for you too …

Thank you again, Monica.

~ Marc

When the mind forgets to listen to the heart

Me to my mind: “Help me! I have a problem!”

My Mind:
“I’ve got an answer!”
“Just do it!”
“Wait, not that.”
“But what about…?”
“But no, that is too much.”
“That will make me sound… “
“Oh no, how about this?”
“I need to figure this out.”

My mind has a thousand answers– conflicting, confused, noisy, crowded.

Meanwhile, my heart patiently waits to see if I’ll ask her.
When I finally do ask, she often gives me a simple, clear answer.
It might be the perfect answer in the form of desire, wisdom or kindness.

Or, it might sound like…
“I’m not ready yet, let’s just sit here and rest for a while.”
Me: “Okay.”

After a time, it occurred to me to ask…
“Heart, why do you keep trusting me, despite the past where I’ve not listened to your whispers?”

Heart: “Because I love you unconditionally, I have endless patience for you.”

Me: “Thank you, I’m sorry, I love you.”
